Valve Pouch
Fresh coffee × automatic venting × the key accessory for professional quality

A valve pouch is a bag fitted with a one-way degassing valve, most commonly used for coffee beans. Freshly roasted beans release gases that need to escape to prevent pouch rupture while blocking external air that causes oxidation. The one-way valve lets the product breathe without letting air in, preserving freshness.
Main Structure and Sealing Method
- The valve does not change the bag structure and can be added to many types such as stand-up, side gusset, or flat bottom pouches. The valve is attached inside with a small hole punched through the outer layer to expose the vent. A silicone pad or membrane inside allows gas to escape when internal pressure rises while preventing outside air from entering. During manufacturing, valve positions are reserved in the film and heat-sealed securely.
Features and Advantages
- With a one-way valve, the pouch gains automatic venting—crucial for fresh coffee beans that continuously emit carbon dioxide. Without venting, pressure could rupture the package or degrade flavor. The valve lets gases escape while blocking oxygen and moisture, preserving aroma and freshness. It also offers a marketing benefit: consumers can squeeze an unopened bag to smell the coffee aroma through the valve.
Common Applications
- Coffee beans are synonymous with valve pouches, whether side gusset or flat bottom styles. Certain teas, herbal medicines, fermented bakery products, and large vacuum packs may also use valves to release gases and maintain packaging integrity.
